About Us

Sponsored by the City’s Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure, 400 China Basin is part of the City’s Limited Equity Program, offering permanent affordable home ownership to middle-income individuals and families. 

Veteran affordable housing developers Michael Simmons, Charmaine Curtis and Young Community Developers came together to build this project, working with Baines Nibbi construction and Mithun and Y. A. Studio architects. Polaris Pacific will lead the sales team and Homeownership SF and its affiliates will provide counseling services.

Administered by the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, which oversees all BMR homes in the City, this project is part of a broader initiative to build 1,100 affordable housing residences in Mission Bay, including two affordable sites designated for first-time homebuyers.

During the purchase process, buyers will be guided by a highly experienced team of housing counselors, buyer’s advocates and sales agents all with substantial BMR experience.

Meet The Team

  • The building is being developed by a partnership of seasoned developers, Charmaine Curtis of Curtis Development and Michael Simmons Property Development, in collaboration with Young Community Developers. Each firm has 25 plus years of experience developing market rate and affordable housing in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area.

  • Award winning architects, Mithun and Y.A. Studio, are collaborating on the design. Both have extensive experience designing affordable housing in Mission Bay and throughout the City. With a belief in design’s vital capacity to connect people to place and each other, Mithun’s offices design buildings throughout the west coast. San Francisco based architecture firm Y.A. Studio designs high-end single family homes, affordable housing and restaurants.
